DART AND ITS TYPES

Dart: Dart is an essential part of the garment construction because it allows flat fabric to take on a shape that will fit the body well. Dart turns a flat two-dimensional fabric layer into a three-dimensional shape. Darts can also be used decoratively to provide a design line. [1]

Types of dart: There are two basic types of dart. They areà 

Single pointed dart: Single pointed dart is wide at one end and tapered at the other. It is V shaped. It is used on skirts, pants etc. [3]

Double pointed dart (Diamond dart/Contour Darts): Double pointed dart is tapered at both ends with width at the center; It is also called a body dart. [3]
